When I was in the 9th grade, we all got a big surprise one Easter morning. We hunted our plastic eggs, ate our chocolate bunnies, and headed off to church. When we arrived, it turned out that we were an hour late. It was the day that Daylight Savings Time was beginning, and somehow, we had missed all the warnings. It was funny, and over the years I've seen it happen to many others, all of whom have had that same bewildered look we must've had.
Well, last week I noticed on my kitchen calendar that Daylight Savings Time was supposed to end YESTERDAY, October 28. The calendar in my bedroom said the same thing. So I set the clocks back early Saturday evening. We stayed up late to watch Game Three of the World Series and didn't worry so much about it, since we'd have an extra hour to sleep the next morning.
On Sunday, we all got up with the sun shining through our windows for the first time in a while, and got ready for church. Just before we were to leave, my hubby got on line and discovered that it was NOT the day to set the clocks back, and that in fact, we still had another week of Daylight Savings Time.
Oh the horror!
How is it that at least two of the calendars in our home did this to us?
Well, we were already an hour late for church (deja vu totally got me that morning) so we went out to breakfast instead, and then came back home to watch a Ravi Zacharias DVD we'd ordered recently. We had a great discussion, and then after that, we carved pumpkins all afternoon.
Next week, we get to do it all over again - the DLS part, not the rest. :P
