What we REALLY did today...

This first picture is associated with what I'd like everyone to think we do each day in our homeschooling. We do these academics, but today, there was less book learning and more hands-on things. In fact, the whole week has been like that.

Although we had one of the best weather weeks of the year, we spent much of it indoors, nursing our little dog back to health. I'll spare you the gory details, but this adorable little guy has been very sick:

We were able to bring him home last night, and I kept him on the IV in his own little bed. In spite of our best efforts, the bed was ruined (and it was old, anyway) so we bought him this new bed this evening.

We did get to spend a little time outside, raking leaves and doing the spring yard clean-up. We're not finished, but it WAS a beautiful day:

And our garden is already under-way:

Of course, in Maine, nothing can safely be planted outside until after Memorial Day, because of the possibility of frost, but this is our better-late-than-never pre-garden.

When we weren't working in the yard, tending our seed-garden, and nursing our dog back to health, I made sourdough bread over and over and over. I found the Perfect Recipe at my friend, Barb's blog, a couple of weeks ago. It takes a long time, but the vast majority of the time involved is simply waiting for the sourdough to do it's thing. So far, even with little variations I've tried, it's come out perfect every time. Here's the latest:

Have a great weekend, friends.
